THE TOUGHEST ANIMAL ON THE PLANET!!!( TARDIGRADE ) !!!
You might have heard about many weird animals like squids, box jellyfishes, polar bears, etc. Every animal on the earth have their own specific characteristics to survive in the hottest, coldest, tropical or the driest places on the earth but have you ever heard about an animal which is less than 1mm long and can survive in the most extreme weathers and conditions on the earth?
Well, you have guessed it right. It is the TARDIGRADE or WATER BEARS. These animal being the smallest animals on earth but they can survive in the most extreme conditions like more than 154-degree celsius, sub-zero temperatures of the poles and even vacuum of the outer space.
This creature is the example that how large and wide our earth is that can contain these animals. This eight-legged creature was named by a german pastor JOHANN AUGUST EPHRAIM GOETZE because it has slow movements and tardigrade means SLOW STEPPERS.
The tardigrade has been able to withstand many types of scientific research including the sub-zero temperature and vacuum space. They have also been able to withstand 1000 times more IONIZING RADIATION than in an average human being and atmospheric pressure that is 6 times greater than found in the depth of the Atlantic ocean. researchers have found that when an environment becomes too hard to live in, they curl up into a small ball and then preserve the water within their "ball" shape also known as TUN. When they do so their metabolism slows very quickly and can stay at the same rate of metabolism for a long period of time. We can see it in this picture below:
So as in the figure, by enclosing the body, it preserves the body temperature and then it can maintain its temperature in the most extreme climates of the earth which we call our common home. One amazing fact of this creature is that the scientists froze this creature in 2013. In the year 2016, they again de-froze the bear and amazingly, LAID 20 EGGS OUT OF WHICH 16 TURNED OUT TO BE SUCCESSFUL. it shows the capabilities of this creature of living in the most extreme situation in the whole universe.
So, this creature proves that there are 100's and 1000's of creatures that have evolved from bacteria: the most primitive organism of the earth and the tardigrade might be still from the primitive stage but its abilities to be able to withstand the most extreme situations of the universe make this organism the most strongest animal on the earth.
